Happy 9 months Ella Bella!

Wowza! Nine months....as long inside as outside. How crazy. I am telling you, it is so fascinating watching all the physical, mental and emotional growth of a infant. They go from jello-y blobs of crying, pooping, nuzzling, baby powder smelling newborns to confident, strong, babbling, eating, crawling, poop machines. All in such a small amount of time!

Ella is an observer. She studies every detail of something. She will "read" a book, flipping each page back and forth, back and forth, back and forth until she understands why and how it happens and is confident that it will elicit the same response each time she turns the page.

In the last month she has been learning to pull up on things, all things. Tables, highchairs, the dogs, my leg. A couple weeks ago she was at a stand still and had no idea how to get down. The first couple times we would rescue her and put her back on the ground in crawling position. Then we decided she would never learn if we helped her down every time. Then I began putting pillows around her to cushion her inevitable fall. It took about 4 or 5 good falls for her to decide there had to be a better way. She practiced for a couple days pulling up and then taking one knee to the ground, walking her hands down and then the other knee on the ground. Safely. She is so methodical. It makes me wonder how much of their adult personality comes out when they are little. At this rate she will be a chemist or biologist using her scientific method, mapping out her hypothesis. Ian, you would be the happiest uncle in the world!!

We had her 9 month appointment at the pediatrician this morning and she is right on track!
16lbs 12oz (20th %)
28 inches (25th%)
Head Circumference 50%

Ella's favorite foods are smashed peas & carrots.

She takes 2 2hour naps a day.

She has 4 top teeth and 2 bottom teeth.

She is in between 0-3mos and 3-6mos clothing. Everything is a little tight or a little loose right now.

She has learned how to give "baby kisses" and can "dance" when music is playing.

We are currently working on clapping and "mama" and "dada".

Happy 9 month birthday, Ella Marie! Only 3 months left for me to plan your big birthday bash! xoxo
