Happy 4th of July!!
I hope everyone had a great long weekend with the 3 F's...friends, food and fireworks. I was working all day on Sunday, which I didnt think that I would mind, except that I did. I wanted nothing more than to be hanging out with my 3 F's and a W(hiskey) or maybe a S(hiner) and some B(bq). Instead I was stuck inside the restaurant with people who clearly didn't care about the 3 F's. Maybe they just didn't have the 3 F's and were in protest and just wanted to drown their sorrows in shrimp and crab...either that, or they clearly hate America. Those are the only two options really.
So, the Solomon's celebrated on Saturday. We started our day at 5:45am, well, I started MY day at 5:45am. Everyone else was up a little before 7...such is the life of a mommy....I know, I like to play the martyr. But, seriously, if I didnt get up before everyone to do all the prep work, ie: layout clothes, pack Ella's diaper bag, cut up snacks, grab water bottles, pack up car...then we would NEVER have everything ready and on time. Ever. Its just the truth.
We got dressed in our red/white/blue (yes, we had matching bandanas) and headed out to the Liberty Run in Denton. We got there right as the registration table was closing up and grabbed everyones number and bags. Of course our friends were late, like 15 minutes late. But, to be fair they had 5 adults and 2 kids to get ready.
About 3 miles into the run/jog/walk/casual stroll, the kids began to break down.
We finish the race as they are announcing the winners for each age category...apparently, we were not in the running for a medal or even a certificate of participation at this point. But, we grabbed a couple free bottles of water, fruit snacks, animal crackers, cheese crackers and rice crispy treats.
The soccer game (football) game was on at 9am, so we all went to Fuzzys and grabbed some breakfast tacos and a couple beers. (Dont judge, I had already been up for almost 4 hours) We watched most of the game and were in bed ready for naps by 11am!! Now that is what I call an excellent use of time.
