I think that there is chance, perhaps a good chance that my brain is turning to mush. Not super mushy like lumpy oatmeal but more of a gelatanous mass like flan that jiggles. Let's see, I bet I can go a whole day with out using any SAT words. I can spend all day and night in the same pj's. I can go through all my activities of the day dictating them in song. I can sing the praises and virtues of the changing table. I can at some point of every day, put my finger in poop, pee, spit-up, boogies or at some points, combinations of all of the above. I can watch The View every morning during nap time. I can watch General Hospital every afternoon during nap time. I can drink coffee by the quart, which they say is a good antioccident ....so really, I guess that is just a convienient bonus. Hooray for silver linings!
Every day is just a bit different. Yesterday, Ella learned how to take all the DVD's off the bottom shelf. She chose Star Wars, the next Star Wars, that other Star Wars, The Rundown (with the Rock and Sean William Scott) and The New Guy (your welcome, Hans). Interesting taste in movies, clearly. We must save the real gems for the top shelf....you know, like a good bourbon.
Today, I have given Ella a teething biscuit. Its pretty disgusting, however she LOVES it. She spits out the residual mush, but will get her tiny mouth to the grubby little end of the treat. The dogs also love teething biscuits and any teething mush that may fall in the mean time. I mistakenly gave Molly a yucky end that Ella gave up on. Now she thinks this is her DOG TREAT and wonders why Ella is munching on it.
Speaking of munching, Ella now has THREE teeth on the top and TWO adorable ones on the bottom. The teething tantrums have disappeared. I say tantrum, I really just mean uncomfort that can be cured with a teething tablet or two....and a good helping of whiskey. She is still exploring "solid" food. Her favorite is tortilla chips (a girl after her mommy's heart). She crunches them, spits out the crumbles and goes for more. It really kind of adorable. And no, Mom, she has not choked and I keep her in my lap and VERY supervised while she munches on her Tostitos.
Tomorrow is going to be a busy day. I may even get out of my jammies! I am going to lunch with two other mommy friends. They both have boys. One is 2 months old and the other is a month and a half old. Yep, that makes Ella the cougar in this little scenario. Good thing we are going to Chuys...Ella can impress them with all her teeth and tortilla chip munching trick! Then we are meeting my cousin Gina and her family out for dinner to celebrate her birthday. They are always a good time. It makes me very happy to have family that lives so close.
I guess my brain is not really turning into mush, its just exercising latent areas that have yet to be stimulated and are reserved for things that I have yet to experience. Massive amounts of unconditional love and caffeine must have opened these new portals. You learn something new every day!

ReplyDeleteAn SAT sentence if I ever read one! You're doing fine, Meagan. And I'm glad to hear the baby cougar is doing well.
Thank you for the encouragement, Javi! Ella, the baby cougar. :)
