Ella's First Word!

I once was told that you spend so much time excited to see your child walk and talk and then you just want them to sit down and shut up....
Yesterday Ella said "Mama"!! At first it was just babbling, "mamamamamababababamama pffft". We thought its just a fluke, she was just linking consenant sounds. Then she started saying "mama mama mama mama". Then we thought it was just a coincidence. I was getting ready for work at the time and walked into the bathroom to finish my hair and then Ella screams, "MAMAMAMAMA!!" I walk back into the bedroom and she stops screaming and smiles and laughs. Then back into the bathroom and Ella screams "MAMAMAMAMA" again!
At this point Jeff is pouting because he knows that there is a name recognition, Ella is calling me Mama! I won the name game!!
Jeff takes Ella into the living room while I finish getting dressed and Ella is still "Mama"-ing it up. He is saying, "NO- thats a bad word Ella. Dada. Dada. Dada. Dada." Jeff accused me of coaching Ella. Damn right! I have been working 9 long months on her recognition of the word Mama. I seem to only speak in third person around her.
"Do you want Mama to make you a bottle?"
"Give Mama kisses."
"Mama love you."

Practice makes perfect, right??
xoxo

  1. That's ok. When you guys have a son, Luke Skywalker Solomon's first word will DEFINITELY be "dada."
