Ella's First Day of Preschool!

Wow! I simply cannot believe that Ella is old enough to go to preschool! I remember when she was a baby and I thought that she would never be old enough to go to school, and now our little sweetpea is running off to her classroom!

I walked Ella into her classroom to meet the other children and to reacquaint her with her teacher Ms. Christie. (We had previously gone to a registration/meet the teacher even last week) Ella's best friend Natalie is also in her class, so I think that Ella felt pretty comfortable and it may have made the transition a bit easier for her.

So busy playing, she wouldnt even smile for me.

All the parents were kinda just hanging out in the classroom and I asked Ms. Christie how long I needed to stay. She said that I could stay as long as I liked...I liked now... "Bye, Ella, give Mommy kisses. I will come back later, have fun on your first day of school, enjoy playing with all your new friends!" Ella responds, "Bye!" Awesome.
And yes, I am secure enough to walk out with my feelings intact, even if she didn't seem to mind me leaving. A mom caught up with me at the door and said that as I walked away Ella goes, "Mommy?, Mommy?, Mommy?". The other mom explained to Ella that I would be back in a bit and that she would have a great time with her new friends. Ella says, "ok!" and walks off. NO TEARS!! Hooray!

When I picked her up, they were outside at the playground and Ella was drinking a massive cup of water! She looked like recess had been pretty intense. Ms. Christie informed me that Ella got in trouble for swatting at another kid...and, my first reaction was defensive! I thought, no way, not my sweet little girl...clearly, this kid is a jerk and had it coming to him. BUT, instead, I asked if she apologized. She did, thankfully. I was informed that Ella did well, was very sweet (other than the swatting) and played very independently. Yep, sounds like Ella.

Setting the toddler grape eating record.

We came home and Ella had a turkey sandwich, sliced grapes and a couple pieces of cheese (her favorite lunch on the planet). She seriously may have set a grape eating record. School must have worn that little chickadee out! She was hungry and damn near asked to go take a nap (after watching an episode of Elmo, of course).

CHEESE!!

I would say that today was a success!! I had a couple hours to myself and Ella had a couple hours of learning and making new friends. She could not stop smiling while eating lunch, so I think that she was pretty happy with her first day of preschool too. I am quite excited to see how next week goes!
