Ella's 8 month update.

Happy 8 Month Birthday, Ella Marie!

In the last two week (yes, in only 14 days!) Ella has decided that she will begin eating solid foods, crawling with precision, sitting up to play, holding her own bottle, trying to use a sippy cup, finally grow out of her 0-3mos. clothing, cutting her two top teeth and PULLED UP all on her own on her crib! Seriously, when she puts her mind to it, there is no stopping this little lady.
Food:Food has always been an issue for Ella. When she was born it took her 2 weeks (haha, 14 days again) to learn her how to use her suck/swallow reflex to drink. She has been slow on solids as well. We waited until she was 6 months to start with solids and quite frankly she wasn't interested at all. However, in the last two weeks, she has had an appetite for peas, carrots and sweet potatoes! She will eat fruit but doesn't seem to enjoy it quite as much. I gave her bananas a couple weeks ago and it was as if I had laced it with no-doz. I should have learned my lesson....but I didn't. I gave her blueberry-applesauce the past two days and she REFUSED to nap. She was happy and in good spirits, but would not sleep. Apparently she is easily influenced by the power of sugar.
Teeth:Ella has been drooling A LOT recently. Like, all down her chin, down her neck and all over her clothing. She is cutting her top two teeth (they are so close). The bottom two came in about 2 months ago and they are pretty adorable. I cannot imagine how painful this process must be for her. She is handling it like a champ though. We have been using Hylands Teething Tablets and they are a miracle herb. Seriously, I need to buy stock.
Crawling:Today she (slowly) chased Wrigley, to be more accurate, she crawled to him as he was sunning in the dining room and tapped his paw hoping to get him to play. I am not so sure how I feel about her new playmate. Wrigley doesn't like kids...at all. He has bitten a couple kids and even a couple adults. Although, in his old age, he doesn't seem to care so much anymore. There are no signs of aggression so far, but you never know.
Pulling up: Yesterday Monique and I were in Ella's room looking at some g-diapers that never quite worked for us. I had put Ella in her crib to hang out while I pulled down the g-pants and when I turned around Ella was STANDING UP holding on to the railing of her crib!!!! I couldn't believe it! She looked so happy and proud if herself. I had to run out and grab the camera. She was so freaking cute. I tried to get video of her doing it again, but I think she was tuckered out from her first trial run. I suppose I need to lower the crib platform now. We must baby proof the house, ASAP!
I am truly amazed at how quickly these last 8 months have flown by. I guess that is what extreme lack of sleep and extreme amounts of coffee will do for you.
xoxo
